Ridgeley v. Merchants State Bank – Government Misconduct – CCR Docket 1988-1989

In the course of reviewing the files concerning the Dallas FBI investigation of CISPES, sup­plied to the CCR by the Justice Department as a result of a lawsuit filed under the Freedom of Information Act, it was discov­ered that the FBI obtained CISPES’s financial records from the Merchants State Bank, in violation of Texas law and the Financial Right to Privacy Act.

A lawsuit was filed in a Dallas federal court on behalf of Sr. Patricia Ridgeley, a CISPES officer, and Dallas CISPES. A decision on the government’s motion to dismiss the complaint is pending.
