While I have many memories of Michael’s tenacious advocacy always coupled with his smile, humor and affection during the Haiti case, there are two memories that I remember best. One was seeing Michael in our neighborhood as he was about to leave for the summer to tend to his honey bees and how surprised I was first to learn he even had honey bees and even more to see how he had the same boundless energy talking about the bees as he did about his legal work. And the classic for me was when Michael called me one day when his family was buying the Nets and he asked me to be a reference for him so he could be approved by the NBA as a team owner. He explained to me that he had few among his friends who would not raise concerns with the NBA. I can still hear him laughing as he said this to me.
