This is a heartbreaking book about a boy, Omar Khadr, a child soldier, who was never given the chance to be a child by the very countries that condemn the use of child soldiers. He remains imprisoned at Guantanamo by the United States; Canada, his country of citizenship, has never lifted a finger to protect his rights as a child. You will be shocked, saddened and in the end angry at the story this page turner of a book exposes. I read it straight through and Omar Khadr’s plight is one you cannot forget. Nor should you rest until the wrong to Omar is put right. Hypocrisy: thy name is Canada and the United States.
